This kit contains everything you need to create colourful drypoint prints at home without the use of a press! Thoughtfully designed it includes all materials except the kitchen sink - but we may need to borrow your kitchen sink.
Unpack the box and turn your home into a pop up print studio - ink, tools, paper all provided with an illustrated instructional booklet as well as a tutorial video to explain all.
Drypoint printmaking is a intaglio print process similar to etching and engraving, but is much more simple and direct. In drypoint the surface of the plate is scratched, gouged, punctured, scraped, but the material itself is not removed, it is just pushed to the side, forming a burr. It is this 'burr' which holds the ink, and gives a drypoint line, or area it's typical velvety appearance.
In this home printmaking kit you will get to create lively marks using etching needles drawing directly onto the surface of a plate. The prints will be colourful through collaging coloured tissue onto your drypoint - this process is called Chine-colle.
Whilst lockdown has turned our homes into make-shift offices, home schools and micro gyms, why not add a printmaking studio on the list too? We'll show you how easy it is and how much joy pulling your first print can bring.
